Josephine had been married twice in her life. She was first married to was married to Greek furrier Nicholas Sistovaris in 1969, however, they got divorced in 1977. In 1989, she got married to a French archaeologist Jean-Claude Gardin. They have been together until Jean-Claude died in 2013.

It is worth noting that, from 1977, she was romantically partnered with French actor Maurice Ronet, with whom she lived until his death in 1983.
