Alex was born into a family involved in the entertainment industry. At a young age, his parents divorced, and he lived with his father who remarried while his mother moved to Germany and also had another family. His father is horror film director Charles Band, and Alex has made appearances in his father’s films. He also began playing music and writing songs while growing up.

Along with his friend Jethro Roshe-Kushel, Band formed the group “Maybe Solitude” and they made a music video, but the band was short lived, and soon he would meet Aaron Kamin and the two would begin playing music together, forming the band “Generation Gap”, which had more of a jazz theme.
