Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Lindsey Shaw says she is leaving social media for awhile in the wake of a racial controversy over a TikTok clip.
Shaw, 32, cried in a series of social media clips as she reacted to a slew of responses after users were upset after a previous clip in which she reacted to a group of Black dancers performing a dance move, then mimicking the move herself and saying, ‘Hey, are we okay, what the f*** is this?’
She said that her intent with her commentary ‘wasn’t that serious,’ adding she believed it was a ‘millennials and Gen Z thing.’
The latest: Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Lindsey Shaw, 32, says she is leaving social media in the wake of a racial controversy over a TikTok clip that she says was misinterpreted
In her teary response, she struck back at people who she said misinterpreted her response to the initial clip.
‘OK, I just have to say right now that the hate in my inbox is not OK,’ she said. ‘I did not mean anything in any kind of way, I am learning every day, as I think everybody is. And this kind of hate just needs to evaporate from the planet no matter who it’s directed towards.’
She shot back at a user who implied that she’d been shedding ‘crocodile tears,’ exaggerating her emotion for sympathy following the controversy.
‘This is my soul out there, if you know anything about what I stand for, what I believe in, you know that it’s not this,’ she said.
Explanation: She said that her intent with her commentary ‘wasn’t that serious,’ adding she believed it was a ‘millennials and Gen Z thing’

She continued: ‘I got to just go off of here for a little while, but I appreciate you, I love you, I’ll be back and I hope that I know more and I hope that we all have a little more compassion and understanding.’
Shaw played Moze on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide from 2004-2007, and has also been seen on shows including Aliens in America, 10 Things I Hate About You and Pretty Little Liars.
